Mature atmosphere and family owned. The food can be a bit too salty for some, I would double check when ordering. The female owner is a doll and will ensure you're satisfied, so speak up! Politely of course. The wait staff can seem very direct, but some are just old school Italian it's nothing personal. Its not perfect however, I've never had a bad experience there. Give it a taste!

This has been my parents favorite restaurant for years and years. They have been going since the owners had the tiny restaurant near Oak Lawn. I can't remember the exact location now. Long story short I have been eating at Capri right along with them for all these years. The husband and wife that own it are very friendly and truly care about each customer. That goes a long way with me. I've only had one server that I don't care for. Every other server and bartender has always been great. Speaking of bartenders. The pours on the wine are unbelievable! I doubt you will need more than one glass. I still get excited every time they bring my wine to the table. The bread is always fresh and we always start with the calamari Capri. It's a little spicy, but I've seen people that can't handle any spice be fine with it. The calamari is always cooked perfectly. I almost always order the fettucini primavera. The vegetables are amazing on this dish! It's not overly heavy either. The gnocchi is another favorite at the table. I don't think anyone has ever had a bad dish. I will say if price is an issue for you watch out for the specials. They tend to run a little high. This place remains to be one of my favorite restaurants in the South suburbs. Parking can be a real pain. Reservations are a must or you will be looking at a long wait!

Dinner last night with my two girls was quite an enjoyable experience. I love the sauces at this restaurant as they are very traditional Italian recipes. I have not been here for a while and had forgotten how much I enjoyed this restaurant until talking with a friend who had just gone for dinner there. The portions of food were quite satisfying and the server was very attentive. Looking forward to our next visit.

Completely incredible food & excellent service. I would certainly return to Capri! The waitstaff were excellent, the food was to die for. As far as Italian is concerned, it can be hit or miss sometimes, but Capri really is not your run-of-the-mill Italian place. Everything tastes & feels authentic & prepared with care. We were served warm, fresh bread right away & offered soup or salad with our meals. Everything we ordered at our table was huge portion-wise. I was sent home with all the left-overs, which fed me for two days, no joke! I was very much impressed by the friendly waitstaff especially & the attention to detail. I certainly recommend Capri as their service & food is excellent. Dreaming of Italian food now! (Only missing 1 star as we had a reservation & we were refused seating by the front-desk person until our entire party arrived... we were only missing one person... he was parking the car! We were told to wait & then finally brought to a huge, empty table that I could see clearly empty the entire time from my "waiting" vantage point.)

Absolutely amazing !!! Went there because they had risotto ( I've seen it made a 100 times on Hell's Kitchen and just needed to try it) it was a great pick ! Portions were huge, server was pleasant and atmosphere was relaxing. I will become a regular !!

The food was very good (I have the pasta basillico), but the service was iffy. When we made the reservation by telephone, we were told separate checks would be "up to our waitress"; however, we were told by our waitress that "separate checks are never given; they're not even an option". Strike 1. We placed our orders; house salads were brought to us - automatically and with house dressing already on them. We were not asked what type of salad dressing we wanted, nor were we told that that swapping the salad for a cup of soup was an option. Strike 2. Lastly, the waitress was not very attentive; we generally had to keep our eyes open to find her. We had a party of 13; you would have thought she would have made a point to check on us more frequently. For larger groups, this would NOT be my 1st choice.

Capri is in my hometown and its a nice place to occasionally grab dinner. I give it a B- C+ Here's what I like: Huge glasses of house wine. Great fried calamari. Lively crowd on weekends. Desserts are pretty good. Cool bar area. Great prices all around. Dislike: Inedible house salad of wilted greens DROWNING in oil. Entrees usually fall short of my expectations. They're fresh and hot. But I feel like they lack proper seasoning. I've experienced this on multiple occasions. Service is lackluster. Used plates piled up and water glasses went unfilled. Server chuckled and kind of rolled her eyes when we asked her to split the bill. Made us feel awkward and uncomfortable. I think if they make a few improvements this place will be a true Chicagoland destination. But right now it's really only worth it for locals to make the trip.

Phenomenal! My fiancé and I went to dinner last night, and ended up booking our rehearsal dinner there in a couple weeks! Outstanding, fast service, terrific food, great staff! My new favorite Italian restaurant!

This place used to be great. Had been going here for years but the food in the last 3 visits has really gone down hill. The eggplant parm is obviously not homemade anymore. The linguine with brocoli and shrimp was bland. place is starting to smell moldy and is in need of a good cleaning .a couple of the waitresses could use some pointers in manners and personality. Hope they can turn things around, this place was great a few years ago.

Got seated 30 minutes after reservation. The wait staff was great! The drinks were great and so was the appetizer, tomato with mozz. My wife's dish was great. My dish was horribly bland. I've never had such a lack luster fettuccini Alfredo before. I was sad.

I tried it twice. Never again. Slowest service EVER. We were told the wait was 30 minutes. At 45 minutes, we checked in with the host again, who told us there was nothing he could do if the people wanted to stay at their tables after finishing dinner. Hmmm....move them to the bar? Anyhow, we stayed, being hungry and not wanting to wait somewhere else, we labored on. Finally we were seated, to be told the food we ordered was out of stock. When I did get food, it was bad. Gave it a second chance another day. I was unimpressed. There are other far better Italian restaurants in the area than Capri.

My wife and I used to go to the smaller one on 87th, now their bigger but still great food and big servings, we had to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation time, but well worth it and they remembered us from 87th St. If you like good homemade style Italian food this is one of the places that should be on your list

This place isn't bad, and likely deserves 3 stars instead of 2. But. When I order the cozze, do not "correct" me by saying: "You mean co-zay?" How perfectly suburban 'Italian'.

When I want to go out to dinner with my husband, it's going to be Capri. I am addicted to their red sauce. I used to get their salad with my dinner, but lately I am finding their soups to be outstanding. I also have a couple of friends who like to go their for a wine lunch date which we do every month. We always try and get Linda as our waitress, even though most of the waitresses are outstanding. Everyone knows they do a large pour on their wine servings. I recently booked their banquet room and thought the food was even better that night than in the restaurant... if that's really possible. We had the Capri chicken which isn't on the restaurant menu. It's a charming room and was very intimate for my 35+ friends. I had such a good time that I'd like to get a group of people together and rent the room again for no reason at all. They now have a take out deli on La Grange Road, but I haven't taken advantage of it yet. I am very very happy that Capri is doing so well. I love it there!

I love their food and the wine glasses are huge, but I unfortunately have to give this place 2 stars. I have tried them three times now and every time have had a rude waitress and hostess. I first thought maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but after two more times of this happening I realized it's because we're younger (mid 20s) and not regulars. While waiting to be seated, people would walk in after us with the same number of people (2) and no reservation, but would be seated before us. It is such a shame too because we really enjoy their food, but unfortunately the service is so bad we won't be returning. I have gone to the Capri in Burr Ridge and had a totally different experience so I will only be eating at that location from now on.

I've been here a few times and I'll be back!!! The food is great and they have a decent but not extensive selection. They will allow for substitutions or even making your own combination, so that's a plus. I feel the marinara is a bit on the acidic side here, so I tend to shy away from that, but I do love their vodka sauce, the Alfredo and scampi dishes. All have been amazing! Bread is super fresh too. As for service, the table service is typical and can be slow but most of the time it's good. However, the bar service has always been great and we all just love Luigi!! Super friendly and attentive! Prices are reasonable too. The wine is $6 a glass, and it's the largest glass of wine I have seen. You get like a half a bottle in one glass. It's awesome! And they serve a great Moscato wine!

This Italian restaurant is very nice. My wife and I came here to try something new and since she loves Italian food she was more than ready to taste it. I was pretty excited myself. The restaurant is very friendly (neighborhood type of place). The service was exceptionally great, they went out of their way to make us feel like we were very important to them. The food was exceptional as well, super super delicious. Prices were very pocket friendly as well. Our kids loved their food as well ( we didn't have to remind them to eat ten times, they cleared the plates on their own even before we did). We are planning to return here as soon as an opportunity shows itself. Also, we were thinking to order their food for a Christmas party we will be having this year. We still need to call and figure out how much it would be for that. Overall, great restaurant and great food.

I came across this place yesterday when I was in the area and looking for lunch. Capri is an italian style restaurant located in a strip mall (although, what isnt out there?). The interior is dark and kind of hokey, with plastic grapes hanging off the ceiling and a brick & ivy print wallpaper. It is divided into two sections, which apparently is "middle aged" and "AARP". I was sat in the middle aged section, where a group of older men flirted openly with a table of older mom-types, who giggled and proceeded to discuss all the super delightful antics of the children in their lives, complete with sound effects, like geese honking, car engine rumblings and whoops. It made for interesting dining entertainment to say the least. I ordered the Melinzana Parmigiana, which for $7 seemed like a lot for lunch out there. But not only are you given a half a loaf of bread, a cup of soup (mine was Escarole and white bean which was a true delight, very thick, rich and loaded with veggies), but also a giant plate of cheese smothered eggplant and a rather sizable bowl of pasta! The amount of food was ridiculous and could have easily fed two. However, the eggplant was disappointing, it was heavily fried to the point where no discernable taste of eggplant came through at all, then coated with a strangly sweet & tangy sauce and salty cheese. The pasta, which had the same sauce, faired better since the amount of sauce was less and it didnt have to contend with oily batter and cheese. Service was good however, and I felt it was the kind of place they would remember you after going a few times. Capri is not a place I would ever go out of my way to get to again, but it works for where it is. Seems like a place where the 40+'s go for dinner and go get tispy off of gin & tonics while they discuss how adorable and terribly talented their grandchildren are.

O.K. So the meat balls are huge. And very good I might add. The wine is served in large glass. But the mixed drinks are very expensive and small? My friend had the chops and they were great. The sevrice was spot on. It's not a big place but It fits the atmosphere. Cozy and makes your tummy feel good on a cold day. if your looking for a table on the weekend, you can fergedabodit. Make sure you have reservation or go during the week.

Very friendly and attentive service. Loud atmosphere (not good or bad, just depends on your situation). Our food was mediocre though. The pasta we had needed to be drained better so as a result it diluted the sauces. I had LInguini con Broccoli (with olive olive and garlic). It was very salty (and soupy per my other comment). The dish with marinara sauce was OK, a little weak (again I think due to the handling of the pasta). On the positive side, the food was hot and the salad and soup were tasty. I will go back one more time and try something different. The place was packed and has received a lot of great reviews. We may have hit an anomaly (or people in the suburbs don't know what real good Italian food is....hmmm). Oh, by the way, I live in the suburbs so maybe I'm confused (high probability). Hope this helps. I'd at least give it a try.

This place is definitely a diamond in the rough, the "rough" being a strip mall in suburbia. The food is excellent; I am a HUGE fan of the house vinaigrette they put on their appetizer salad and I crave it fortnightly. The calamari fritti is excellent, as is the zucchini fritti. Not my favorite meatballs ever, but still not a bad meatball, and if you are a cliche sap like I am, they will make you spaghetti and meatballs despite the fact it doesn't make an appearance on their auspicious menu. However, the fettucini alfredo con gamberi e scallopini as FANTASTIC! The scallops are always cooked so well and it just goes. Plus you will have to take some home for another meal or risk making an appearance on a TLC show with "ton" in the title. While I have never been a big eggplant fan, I actually do enjoy their Melinzana Parmigiana -- it has just enough mozzarella and not that biting eggplant taste that sometimes gets me about eggplant parmesan. I would avoid the Linguini con Vongole -- I had a bad experience once with it where the clams opened up and showered my entire sauce with sand making my meal inedible. However, upon informing my server of it, she whisked it away and I wasn't charged for the dish, instead offering a replacement. A few notes to take with you -- if you are a soda maven, they do not have a soda machine and sodas are priced per can; no cushy free refills at this joint. However the wine glasses are more like buckets are filled generously, so it balances out if you are a wine drinker. Second, get a reservation and even then, be prepared to wait. This is the only edible place the eat out in this part of the world apparently, and it is stocked to capacity with the middle aged and the post-middled aged. If you find yourself stuck out in suburbia, or just want to take a drive to someplace new and different off the beaten, overpriced city-path, give a shout out to Donna and Mauricio!

We had 65 people at Capri Restaurant in Palos Heights for our Rehearsal Dinner, they did a remarkable job, from room set-up, to the extraordinary waitresses and bartender. The menu was served family style, Fried Calamari, Ceasar salad, Rigatoni w/Marinara, Chicken Ala Capri (Chicken Vesuvio w/garlic potatoes, oh my lord they were good!), the pasta and chicken were served PIPING HOT! We finished with Italian ice and tiramisu. If anyone is looking for a banquet venue in the south burb's my family highly recommends Capri, the room and restaurant are how should I put this....old school Italian ( the decor is outdated but at night with the light's dimmed it really didn't look so bad). The drink's were great the food was great but the best part was joining the families together and Capri handled the night beautifully.

I have eaten here once or twice a week for the last couple of years. I can honestly say I have not had one bad meal here and I have tried alot of whats on the menu. The fried calamari is terrific (well done in vodka sauce is my favorite way). The pasta and veal dishes are all fantastic as is the chicken parm. Yeah I know, chicken parm? Yes, its that good. Lets not forget the large glasses of wine. The entire wait staff is very pleasant and the service is great. Be prepared to wait a bit on Saturday nights. If you are in the area you should give this place a try.

I like this place a lot! Definitely another overlooked gem. I would venture so far to say that Capri is to Italian food as Chi Tung is to Chinese/Japanese/Thai food. ESPECIALLY on the South side. I'm not knocking it, I love all the hot dog and hamburger stands as much as the next girl, but sometimes you wanna go someplace classy, and you're not talking Red Lobster. This is a nice sit-down Italian restaurant with exceptional service, and I have never, ever had a bad meal here. So, what to try? Calamari (I prefer the fried but the grilled is also very good!) Tiramisu Capri Salad (dressing deserves a shout out!) Gnocchi Quattro Formaggi Vitello Al Limone I always like the pianists they pick to play at the restaurant too! Check this place out, you will not be disappointed!! :)

Great food, good service, killer wine selection (served by the glass in a fish bowl), great value... awesome deserts and specials. Weekends are a bit crazy and you can always expect a wait even if you have a reservation. Ambiance is the only drawback, the place in Burr Ridge is much more classy.

aw man, I sooooooooo wanted to love this place. I saw this place featured on check please, it is very close to my parent's place so I decided to bring mom and pop here for dinner. The decor is dated but honestly, it's an Italian restaurant that has probably been there for ever, decor really isn't an issue for me at a place like that. I am more concerned with food being delish. I had the gnocchi quatro formaggi and it was bland. I've had this dish at other italian restaurants before and this was probably the worst I've ever tasted. barely any flavor. Pop had the baked lasagna, it was decent. Nothing outstanding. Mom had veal with spinach, veal was a little bland as well. All in all it was a bland experience. I was so disappointed. Waitstaff was excellent, they are VERY friendly there, they do take their time, but you know what, this place is a family orientated place, it's a good place to go to if you don't want to be rushed in and out like at most restaurants. Prices are decent as well. we did have a 6:30 reservation and didn't get seated til almost 7, there was a couple there that had a 6 p.m. reservation and they didn't get seated til 5 min before we did, so not sure if reservations even make a difference. Perhaps it was an off night though. I have heard that their seafood dishes are outstanding, but I am not a seafood eater, so I guess I will not be returning to capri for any more of their bland pasta dishes.

I have been dining here a few times a year since they opened in Palos Heights. It was a fun place at first, good food, had some music on the weekends, I liked dining there. Not the greatest Italian restaurant, but good. But, in my opinion, food has been going downhill for the past year or so. the last three times I ate there, I was disappointed. I felt like I was in a cafeteria, not a good dining establishment. I was there last week and ordered the Friday special, Pan Fried Chicken. Well, when it arrived it was not pan fried, but oven baked and topped with chicken stock that was thickened and a few asparagus. It looked awful and tasted bland. I complained to the waitress and she sent the owner over. I told her it was not as promoted, it was baked and not pad fried as the chicken was a pale color with no browning and no skin. She did not argue with me and took the plate off of my bill. this has happened to me before. They have some great dishes on their menu, but far too many are just mass produced and flavorless I found the calamari chewy which means it was frozen. Some of the pastas are not fresh but frozen. Not good for a good Italian dining establishment. Maybe I am just too picky or maybe too sophisticated as I dine out a lot all across the city.. I just don't think I will go back again. And, still no music on weekends. A mandolin would be great. Too bad.

Great little spot. They must let that wine breathe in the back cuz they fill there glasses to the top. Cocktails are the same way and only like 7 bucks a drink. No complaints on my end. Fresh in house pasta. Huge portions lunch for later and great service.

Went there last night with a group of 14 gals. Service was just o-kay - I hate when you have to keep asking to have your water glasses refilled. The portions are huge, and the food was just o-kay, nothing too memorable. If I was in the area, I would go back, but as far as Italian goes, I think there are many better places to eat at.

It's a Friday afternoon and my wife and I are out running errands in the Palos, Orland area. So where should we go for some lunch we ask each other. Let's try Capri in Palos Heights, we remember it from an episode of Check Please. My wife says, "you are a nut for that show." So we start with bread and minestrone soup. My wife liked the bread and the well seasoned olive oil, I thought it was just bread. We both thought the soup was watery. We also ordered a Chicken Cesaer Salad. Our waitress told us the salad was huge so she offered to split it into two plates for us to share. She also asked if we wanted the salad dressing on the side and we said no put it on the salad. Later our waitress stopped again to double check that we wanted our salad dressing on the salad and not on the side and we said yes. So when the salad finally (service was very slow) showed up we had two dry salads with no salad dressing on the side. So we had to ask for our salad dressing. The salad after all of that was just average. Then we finally (again slow service) receive our main course. My wife ordered the Lasagna and I ordered the porterhouse steak. My wife's Lasagna was pretty good. My porterhouse steak, that I ordered medium-well wasn't bad either. They were nothing special, again just average. We were too full to order any desert though. Overall I thought the place was nicely decorated, my wife thought it was tacky. We both thought the service was nice and friendly, very slow, but friendly. The food was reasonably priced, we received a lot for $37 dollars. The food was just average though, nothing to write home about. Would Maria and I go back, no we would not. It was nice to try but there are far too many other Italian restaurants in the area to try instead.

One of my faves! Food is always fresh and yummy from the salad (house dressing is great) to dessert (the tiramisu is to die for)! Love the sausage and peppers! My hubby doesn't do Italian and always gts the steak......it is the largest steak I've ever seen! All the portions are generous. Excellent house wines served in giant glasses. Only downside is the wait. Even with reservations, plan to wait about 30 minutes. Well worth it, however!

Wow I really love the calamari here! Also I enjoy the bacala as the cod is baked tender in a wonderful tomato sauce and the portion is huge. They also have reasonable wine by the glass. Big menu here in a day when most restaurants are offering limited selections. So you have a gigantic choice of food off this menu.

I have been meeting up with my gal pals at Capri for some time now and find it a very cozy neighborhood restaurant with good food and drinks. However, the last 2 times we were there we noticed a bad infestation of fruitflies making it quite unappetizing as they buzz around your plate while you're eating. We were very turned off and surprised. After experiencing this the first time we did, we felt for sure that the problem would have been solved when we returned. That was not the case. You can see people sitting there shooing them away from their food. I know they're hard to get rid of, but it doesn't seem like any effort is being made. I don't know how they'd pass a health inspection. I hope it is resolved soon, as before the pesky problem I've always enjoyed my time there. It just makes you wonder if they're sitting on all the food in the kitchen.

Capri serves traditional, rustic Italian food. For those with a more "cosmopolitan" background in Italian (i.e. fusion) or those with more mainstream tastes (i.e. Olive Garden and Ragu), you might find the cuisine too boring. But that will be more a result of you than Capri. This restaurant provides delicious food with portions large enough for two. I agree with other reviewers that it is dark inside, and for those who require reading glasses, you'll struggle to peruse the menu. On the night we went, the tables were half full, and I was please with our polite and attentive server. Onto the food: I loved the Cavatelli and Broccoli. Cavatelli, which Italian Chicagoans pronounce "Gavadil" (go figure), is a small, flat dumpling which rolls over on itself when cooked. It was in a delicious, gentle garlic sauce and served steaming hot. Others at my table ordered the stuffed shells, which will delight ricotta lovers--each shell was stuffed beyond reason. The cheese was deliciously creamy and the red gravy was good as well. Another ordered a special of penne with grape tomatoes, spinach, black olives, and chicken in a tomato/garlic sauce. The dish fell short on the extras; the spinach and tomatoes were minimal, and so was the garlic flavor. The sauce was interesting, in that it was tart and savory all at once. Overall, I would recommend Capri to anyone who is looking to spend about $20 per plate on some delicious Italian food.

Capri is a fine Italian dining experience. I have been coming here for years and always seem to remember it for the warm hospitality, friendly and lively waitstaff and savory tasty dishes. Yes, the wine servings are huge and very good. The portion sizes are also very big. Be prepared to take home leftovers. But at least you'll have some delectable lunch portions for the next two days. Great entrees that I've had here, on separate occasions of course, include: Fettucini con Broccoli, ravoili, melinzana parmigiana (eggplant), pollo alla vesuvio, pollo calabrisella, petit de pollo al limone (my favorite, very sour lemon but pleasing for me, love sour taste of lemon ) For dessert, try the italian ice or spumoni. They are good. I will most definitely be returning to Capri for the quaint atmosphere, the lively staff and of course the tasty food and wine.

I would definitely come here again. My service was great even though we had to sit at the bar for about 10 minutes and it was a weekday! A few commonalities from other reviewers - yes it is quite the senior crowd here but who cares - yes the decor could be more modern but again who cares - yes they serve wine in huge wine glasses and I love it! The menu was VERY extensive - nothing like variety. Bruschetta came on large slices of bread - tomatoes with their oil and seasonings were delicious. Fettucini with shrimp and scallops with alfredo sauce was fabulous, some of the best I've ever tasted especially because the seafood tasted so fresh. I am going to return here to try the sausage and peppers and the red sauce and the eggplant and the veal. I'd like to try the dessert but the portions are so huge (priced right too) I'm not sure there will be room.

What a let-down! Called last week to book a birthday dinner for a large group (11) for Saturday, but was disconnected by the hostess. When I called back, she clearly recognized my voice, but made no apology. Should have tipped me off since sloppy management breeds sloppy table service. When we arrived on Saturday, we were ushered through an office and the kitchen to an adjoining space, purportedly a banquet room where the staff had simply pushed two 8-person round-tops together for us. The hostess tossed a pile of menus in the middle of one table and left. First time we saw our waitress was roughly 10 minutes later--and she was clearly not thrilled to be there. When my wife responded to her question about ordering appetizers with a question about the portion sizes of the entrees (which I thought was reasonable since we were first-time guests), she was very snippy and stated that they are "dinner sized" as if we were stupid. We did end up ordering some appetizers (calamari; zucchini; sausage and peppers) which were very good, but were unnecessary given the huge servings of pasta in the entrees. When I booked the reservation, I asked if either soup or salad accompanied the entrees, and was told you could choose either. Our waitress never asked our preference when she took our orders, so we were surprised to have salads with house dressing arrive for all diners in our party. Did the hostess book us as a banquet and not inform us?? While enjoying the salad, I asked the waitress if she would please have the busboy bring us some more bread. She rolled her eyes. Entrees arrived piping hot. However, the Chicken Vesuvio lacked any meaningful seasoning. Bland baked chicken absolutely smothered in onions. The Shrimp Diavolo was wonderfully spicy, but the shrimp were terribly overcooked so that they were tough and chewy. Really disappointing. Other entrees were OK, but certainly not worthy of the 5-star reviews that I had seen from other diners. And, of course, since we were a large group, an 18% gratuity was automatically tacked onto the bill--which the waitress cheerfully pointed out to me. Would I go back again? Not likely.

If i could describe Capri in three words; they would be Spot-on Taste. Everytime I come here, the food always taste perfect. Last night I had the Baccala cod fish, perfectly cooked cod, and the sauce was just right. Mty wife had the Fettucine alfredo with broccoli, brocolli was cooked perfect, not overcooked or under cooked. Aside from my wifes made from scratch alfredo sauce, this was the best alfredo sauce I've ever had. The decor is not fancy, kind of basic if you ask me, but who cares? The food taste perfect! Like I said, spot-on. Capri is surrounded by many restaurants, but the reason this place is always packed is the spot-on taste. The prices are fair, not inflated, I think for the food quality they deserve to charge a couple bucks more. The portions are.....spot-on. The service was friendly, from the hostess, to the server, and even the bussers. The place was packed with people and the vibe was great. Why you ask? Because the people are consuming delicious spot-on taste food. Finally, did I mention spot-on taste?

Wow. Can't believe I actually drove down from Lincoln Park to this place for a birthday dinner for a girl I barely know but I am SO GLAD I did. I'd do it again and probably will. While service is questionably slow (they don't use computers, only paper tickets), the food is absolutely divine. I HIGHLY recommend their one salad of the menu, it's an explosion of all the best Italian flavors in your mouth. Their bruschetta was the best I've ever had because the bread wasn't so hard that it all fell apart after the first bite. And the olive oil they set out in the table is infused with basil - hellllllo heaven! I wasn't crazy about the marinara sauce (lacking in flavor and flare) but the gnocchi was very well done though I don't think it was homemade. A solid old school place with quality food, great prices, but not the best service (but they're nice!).

Great food, nice employees, decent priced good wine. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because we had reservations but still had to wait 45 mins. They overbook way too much. Try the dumpling/sausage pasta dish..out of this world!!!!

VERY GENEROUS WINE SERVING! Every time I have heard about Capri someone mentions the wine first and the food second. I came here last night w/some of my family for dinner and I must say that I was pretty impressed myself w/both. The wine servings are quite heavy-handed & nicely compliment a meal of fresh pasta (I recommend the cavatelli w/vodka sauce). There are plenty of options on the menu, as well as daily specials to please anyone at the table. Also, they are very accommodating to any substitutions or alterations. If you are planning on being out that way I would suggest making a reservation since it was fairly crowded on a Tuesday night.

I would highly recommend this for a party or banquet. The food and service was way above average. The setting was great too. Not one complaint! Looking forward to returning for dinner.

Capri in Palos Heights is a favorite of mine. Excellent food, service & the quality is always GREAT. Their web site eatatcapri.com Without drinks an average tab is only $15. This was also on Check Please..WTTW

Awesome restaurant. Not your average spaghetti and meatball Italian restaurant. Innovative twists on favorite Italian dishes-the tortellini with sliced sausage, roasted red peppers and peas was beyond delicious, and the portions are more than generous. They don't skimp on the wine pours either. I don't live in IL anymore unfortunately, but each time we return I will always come back to Capri!

Ugh, I can't believe that somebody actually chose this place to be on "Check Please"? This restaurant should've been on a show called "Hurry Up and Bring Me My Damned Check so I can get the Hell out of Here." We walked in and it's tacky looking. It's a throwback to a 1970's looking restaurant with bad decor and really bad carpeting. It just doesn't look appealing to sit down and have a nice meal. The food was bad to mediocre. First, if you're going to serve olive oil, make it extra virgin and not some substandard variety. I may as well soak my bread in water and present it as olive oil. The house salad - eh. It was a nice size and all the portions are big but what's the point when it's just eh? Let's get to the pastas. I know the pastas are boxed and not home made. They taste like they're out of a box and were overcooked and gummy - not al dente. The penne was not great, the marinara was watery and had chunks of canned tomatoes that were far too big and chunky without much taste. It reminded me that the cook took some whole canned tomatoes and didn't even simmer it enough to make a decent sauce and didn't have appropriate spices or seasonings. The gnocchi was mediocre and nothing to write home about. Life is too short to partake in a bad meal and spend money on it!

I'd like to first start off by noting that me and my family came in with a large party, of 15, and we were there to celebrate an anniversary. We came because the celebratory couple had been to the restaurant before, and enjoyed it. However, on this trip, the wait staff was extremely curt, and waited on the table poorly. Many of the party didn't get their drinks until twenty minutes into the meal. Lastly, with a well over 700 dollar bill, they started to clean the table with us still sitting there, not 30 minutes past desert, with us still ordering drinks. They constantly pestered us, and eventually told us we had to leave, even though there was no one waiting for the table, no services demanded, and we had spent well over 700 dollars, plus tip.

Absolutely wonderful! I like the ambiance of the Burr Ridge location more, but the food is just as delicious. I can't visit Capri without getting something with their red sauce on it. Nothing compares. Huge glasses of wine. I've never been unhappy after a meal.

Went looking for a place to eat with family after a trip to the nearby hospital. Was recommended this restaurant by a staff member. Very friendly staff! Were served fresh, hot bread the moment we were seated. Server arrived quickly to go over specials and make suggestions. THE SERVINGS WERE ENORMOUS! Ordered the fried zucchini as an appetizer, and was very pleased. Vegetables were hot and crispy. I ordered the eggplant parmesan which was also very tasty. Not too heavy with the breading like at other restaurants. Siblings ordered the roasted half-chicken which looked delicious. We all split a tiramisu for dessert. HUGE SERVING easily shared between 3 people. For a first time experience, these folks couldn't have made a better first impression. Will definitely return to try the chicken!

Capri is a great family restaurant, the food is very good. I had the pasta carbonara which was very good. We also had the grilled calamari, tomato and fresh mozzarella salad, which were all good to, we also had the appetizer special bruschetta with a melted smoked cheese and sweet peppers. I have been coming here for years and am never disappointed.

One way we measure good restaurants is by the quality of the food, the way it's cooked, the way the chef blends flavors together to bring out the best in the ingredients! The other way restaurants can be measured is by how the chef lathers cheese on everything, offers obscene portions and thusly contributes to the huge obesity problem in America and Capri is this kind of restaurant. I had to eat there because of a function, I was ushered through the kitchen to get to the "banquet" room. The restaurant caters to a kind of people who like their drinks and food served in huge portions, full of fat etc. I think that your body deserves better than this.

A cozy place with red-sauce roots that aspires to be something more. They don't even list veal parm on the menu! But they make it, and that's what I was in the mood for on a cold winter night. The veal was very thin and breaded, but you could still taste decent quality veal, not just the fried coating. Spaghetti was a little waterlogged and could have been more al dente, and I actually find their red sauce slightly bland (it's more chunky than smooth) though still quite credible. Fried calamari appetizer quite good -- big pieces of squid, just rubbery enough if you know what I mean.. Dinner salad was nice -- all romaine with a bit of cuke, carrot, red cabbage and cherry tomato and an ok house Italian dressing. As everyone says, the wine pours are decent, and I really liked the house Sangiovese. Service was very friendly and prompt, though it was a slow, frigid Monday night. Portions are huge. The calamari (11.95) was plenty for two or three, and the veal and spaghetti (18.95) was about half again as much as I actually needed for a satisfying dinner. I disapprove of huge portions for the sake of huge portions, though so many restaurants like this one do it because people equate it with quality and value -- one reason most everyone on the South Side is overweight!

Not too bad. I came here with a group, there were eight of us, and we fit at a table comfortably. The place wasn't overly crowded but I always recommend reservations. We didn't try any appetizers but I did enjoy the bread with cheese and oil. I ordered a glass of Moscato and it was ah-maz-ing. Probably some of the best Moscato I've ever had. For my dinner I had lasagna. It wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as the lasagna my non-Italian mom makes. The servings were huge so I'm happy to have the leftovers for dinner tonight. The waitress was nice but absent. We had to ask someone for more water, bread, etc. I wouldn't be against going back...if only for that Moscato.

First time there, and it was DELICIOUS!!! Cocktail, Bread, Salad, Special "Chicken with a Light Lemon Cream Sauce" with Asparagus and a side of spicy Rigatoni Arrabiata. Then another taste of heaven - Lemon Cake (with tiny pieces of white chocolate in the frosting) for dessert! Can't say that I've ever walked out of a restaurant, and thought everything was AMAZING! That was a first too. We will be back!

My second visit here and this was better than the first. We had a large group here for a birthday. And a Saturday night the place was packed and nobody in a hurry to leave. Comfortable setting with huge glasses of wine, people to buzzed to move. I went for the special pork chops. They were delicious and big portion. Served with polenta on the side and I was a happy boy. Everyone was happy with their choices. Service was good, Nice place make reservations.

Worst service and food I think I ever had. There were three of us and we all said we'd never go back. By the way the lights'Constantly dimming like the power was overloaded real classy.

Worst service I've had in years. If you're looking for a huge glass of cheap wine, and overpriced, overcooked boxed pasta with canned tomatoes, this is the place for you! And the lemmings are flocking in for it! Went there with a group of 12. They were seated early and I arrived at the scheduled time. When I sat down, everyone was ready to order so 15 minutes later, when the waitress finally got around to asking me if I wanted a drink, I asked her to please take their order first, they were getting anxious (and I didn't want my drink to hold anyone up). She turned around and walked AWAY! 15 minutes later (now 45 minutes for the rest of the group and 30 minutes for me) after repeatedly flagging down other servers and busboys, she finally came to take the order only to tell the group at the other side of the table the delay was my fault- I wasn't ready. She didn't think I would hear her way on the other side but I was OUTRAGED!! Using me as a scapegoat for her unconscionably bad service??? I regret not leaving at that point. She knew I heard her lies and called her out on it. No acknowledgment, no apology. Just more crappy attitude. Large groups get the tip tacked on so apparently it's okay to treat us like cattle I never did get my drink- and couldn't even get a refill on the water. Had to ask several times for bread and then it was not warm. Empty cheese shaker on the table. Three of the pasta entrees were cold. I was told I had to get shells and marinara as my side order when I found out later there were other choices. Textbook terrible- but the behavior of the waitress is unforgivable. After I paid my bill and the forced gratuity I talked to the manager (?). Don't know who the petite older woman at the front desk is but she could care less that such atrocious service is occurring under her nose. The Southside lemmings are still being drawn to the fire ....but when they wake up and realize there is no reason to pay outrageous prices for barely average food and bad service, the walls will fall in on them.

This place was great and has been on my bookmarks for an extremely LOONNNG time, so I am pleased to swipe it from my list. My GF and I were the youngest patrons in here but a cool 20 years or so, but no big deal as that generation definitely know the fun places with good deals. The wine pours totally live up to their reputation and I really don't need to talk much about them. Yet the real surprise is the food! Two occasions that I've been there the staple red sauce Italian dishes were done to perfection but straying away on the specials list the salmon olive tapenade was really yummy. Greatly recommend this place.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
